February 25, 201214 yr  Today was "Day 1" as a Rust Hunter.    I found a little "Thrift Store" down the street from me.   Seems they had a few items I might be interested in.  Pulled up to the store front, looked in my rear view mirror at the county Courthouse.   Went into this Thrift store and went all the way to the back.  Along one wall, there sat a Stanley #8c, in decent enough shape.  Tag said $25.   Beside it was a couple of old braces, but no auger bits in sight.   Beyond them, sat a well used Stanley #26.   IF I were to buy the #26, a new sole would have to be made, as the area from the throat forward was worn way down.  Price?  $35!   I will pass on that one.  This old Jewelery Store turned thrift store also had a basement!  Down there was a LARGE, wooden train set, for $100.   About halfway back, into this basement, there were some more tools.    A pile of old handsaws, and even a couple wood handle hacksaws.   One handsaw had a red plastic handle.  The other three were wood handles, in very bad shape.  A few of the sawnuts were even missing.   Didn't even look at the prices.  A couple old pipe wrenches were there as well. So, what to buy? WHEN I can find a "spare" $25 , I will go back and get that #8c.   Might take two people to carry it to the van, but it would be worth the effort.   I am also on the look out for another such thrift store in town.  About two blocks away, IF I can get there WHEN they decide to be open.  Well, so much for day one. 'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
