February 26, 201214 yr Hey John, Bell Forrest Products in Ishpeming here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is a good source. They have a website and ship across the country.
February 26, 201214 yr John, I believe Bob Kloes hassome but the shipping from Wisconsin may eat you alive.Ron DudelstonSite HostAbove and Beyond WoodWorks
February 26, 201214 yr Kloes would have been my suggestion, but as Ron said the shipping may be a deal killer. He has a large supply though.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
February 26, 201214 yr John,Can't help you with the tiger maple, but wow what a beautiful shelf!SQHappiness is wood chips flying!
February 26, 201214 yr John,How much do you need in what thickness? My friend at church is a lumber/materials supplier and the company he works for deals with most of the hardwood lumber dealers and furniture manufacturers throughout Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Los Angeles Counties area. I asked him this morning and said that he could look into the tiger maple as he has some folks that would have it in the Los Angeles area but needs to know what you need. He has one guy who has logs that he cuts slabs in maple. If you could work with veneers then that is no problem as those are more readily available. So let me know.Allen WorshamCorona, CAallenworsham@earthlink.nethttp://www.awcreationsandwoodcrafts.com'Graze in every man's field, but always give your own milk' J. Vernon McGee

February 27, 201214 yr Author Allen that is great! No veneers. But what I am looking for is about 48 bdft of Tiger, I can get curly at Reel Lumber but the Tiger is hard to find.If you could let him know I need Tiger in 7" width minimum. The width of the shelf is 6 1/2 inches. It is 48" high by 48" wide so minimum lengths are 60 inches. Thickness is 4/4, full 4/4 if possible, I'll mill it to my own thickness. Tell your buddy thanks for helping if he can!Allen Worsham said:John,How much do you need in what thickness? My friend at church is a lumber/materials supplier and the company he works for deals with most of the hardwood lumber dealers and furniture manufacturers throughout Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Los Angeles Counties area. February 27, 201214 yr John,Here is the email that I got back from my friend Skip at church. These are the ones closest to you as opposed to being in the Los Angeles area. Hopefully you can track something down from one of them.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Good morning Allen, Here are a few companies that should have this material. I was informed that this type of maple is usually culled from the units because most customers do not want it, and that it will usually be turned into a flooring product. Anjelo at Cherokee 909-920-5430 Erick at Weber 714-259-1100 Joe at Atlas 909-591-9442 One of these companies should have the material you are looking for. Have a good week! SkipAllen WorshamCorona, CAallenworsham@earthlink.nethttp://www.awcreationsandwoodcrafts.com'Graze in every man's field, but always give your own milk' J. February 27, 201214 yr I recently bought 50 bf from Bob Kloes and it was beautiful. He planned off mill marks at no charge and shipped it to me. It came in 3 days. He is a member of this site and i don't think you will find it cheaper anywhere. I paid less than $5 /bf. Locally it costs around ten. I will let him know about this post.Adam WelkerRed Car Construction and Fine Woodworking
February 28, 201214 yr Author Well that is an excellent price Adam. My client will be very happy if we could find some Tiger in this price range, even with shipping the savings on the lumber would offset the shipping. I have been in contact with Bob already and I am awaiting his reply to the price he is charging now for the tiger. Thanks all for taking an interest and thank you Allen. I am very excited to get into this project, it is going to look really nice. Adam Welker said:I recently bought 50 bf from Bob Kloes and it was beautiful.
