LOOKIING FOR 4 INCH ROUND DIOPLE LENS

Featured Replies

for my magnifying lamp that I used on my scroll saw.  The one I have now is 3 dipole rating.  Would like a 4 or possibly 5 dipole rating. With my poor old eyes need something little stronger.  I rather not have to buy a whole new lamp when the lamp itself works just find.  Have done some Google search and find them with lamps included.  Would appreciated if anyone can point me to the right directions.

Thanks

What brand and model light do you have now? A pic would help as well. I may actually have one but not sure of the magnification but I think it's a 5.

The one I have I got it from Dremel Tools that was an accessory for the Dremel scroll saw Model # 1672.  Both are about 12 yrs old.  The owner manual gave only CAT # 1304.  It is 4 inch round in dia.   Picture of it is below.  If yours will not work, guess I'll do something different.  But I'll search little more before I'll decide.  Thanks

OK Wayne I measured and the lens is 5" diameter. Unfortunately it wouldn't fit your light assembly so what I thought is why don't I just send you the whole fixture. you wouldn't be able to attach it to your saw. It's the kind that sits in a weighted base and there is a 3" round pin that mates into a socket in the base, it's an articulated arm and uses a round florescent light like the ones used in the old kitchen light fixture. The base socket has cracked and it leans a bit but the light fixture is in great shape works great and I believe you could build a small clamp base on your scroll saw cabinet or drill a hole in the cabinet top in one of the back corners of the top. I'll take a pic in a bit so you can see what it looks like.

P.S. after looking at your pic closer It might actually be able to attach to your saw in the same hole as your present light. If you could measure your lights mount pin and I'll measure mine and with luck it's the same.

Here are pics of the light that I have.

It's a pain, but I use a set of magnifying goggles with the lighted lens at the scroll saw. I also wear trifocals. It's a lot like herding cats when I'm sawing. Grin.gif

I have bifocals and find it a pain, I cant imagine trifocals. I'm actually considering a pair of single vision lenses for close up work.

Mike, I tried taking off my glasses and just using the goggles and the magnifying lamp. But, I guess one eye requires more or less magnifying power than the other. It just made me dizzy. But, If I could figure out which lens of the three I use for scrolling, having a single lens set made might work. In the meantime, I'll just keep herding the cats.Grin.gif .....and cutting BIG things.

I just check the lamp pin after I woke up about an hour ago.  It measure  1 3/8 inch long and it about 7/16 to 1/2 inch in dia.  Yours look like it solid pin where mine is more like a tube or rather it hollow in the middle. Below are first 2 pictures of it.  Did have a thought on how the lamp is attached to the arm.  The 3rd picture is what mine looks like.  If your is similar might be able to change out the lamp head.

Well it took me long enough between doing everything else but I found one that will work from one of the office box store in the area.  They had one on display for less than $ 70 bucks but none in boxes.  As it turns out they had did not have any more and was discontinuing that model and they said I could have it.  Since there is no boxes or papers I do not know exactly what diopter rating it is but looking thru it at the store at different sales tags I don't have to place the magnifier right on the objects like my old one.  Any who I got it clamp to my scroll saw table and took one of the scroll saw patterns &  I can see clearly.  Now maybe I can get back to scroll sawing with out my eyes getting cross sighted.
