March 5, 201214 yr I hope everybody had a great weekend and got some shop time in. We were blessed with over 3" of rain this weekend, as we have been in a drought this is truly a blessing. Hopefully none of our members were in the paths of the nasty tornadoes and storms in the past few days. This is what I did yesterday Yea I glue up a few patterns, mini birdhouses & birds, pet angels and all their components, and a couple more awareness ribbon angels, hopefully I can get the majority of these cut this week. I did cut these two chess pieces just for fun, they are from Diana Thompson's book on making chess sets, she has patterns for a woodworkers set, I'll probably cut one of each just for fun. Check out what Wayne Mahler finished up Crown of Thorns finished and delivered some more of his beautiful work. Here are a couple links for everybody to check out : Rick Hutcheson is known to be one of the overall foremost authorities on scroll sawing and has what is known to be the largest collection of saws in the U.S. if not in the world, he has a bunch of good videos on not only scrolling but also turning, as he is a rather accomplished wood turner also. http://scrollsaws.com/ Steve Good has to be one of the most generous people in the scrollling community, he sends out around 300 free patterns every year via his email newsletter. If you can't find something to cut from his selection of patterns, you just don't want to cut anything , he also has numerous videos on his youtube channel. http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/ http://www.youtube.com/user/sdgood#g/u I'm looking forward to hear what everybody else has been up to this past week. GregScroll Saw forum hosthttp://www.thesawdustfactory.net/

Glue em all up first, then cut em all out.I am loving your chest pieces. Very nice and clean. So I am thinking the saw piece is the Bishop? and the slotted screw piece is a pawn?John MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project and Homes For Our Troops

March 5, 201214 yr as soon as I get home tonight I will be doing almost these exact same things. My first show of the year is in 2 weeks and Im in need of about 100 more of these birdhouse ornaments. going to do her butterflys too and a few other items in mind. Man your gonna be busy too.
March 5, 201214 yr Author The saw is the queen and the screw is a pawn. The king is a brace, the bishop is a hammer head, the knight is a pair of pliers, and the rook is a screwdriver. I glue up groups of patterns like this when I need to cut a bunch of stuff quick, so I can just sit and cut, also we have some cold nights coming up this week and the spray glue won't stick as well in the cold.  Morris said:Wow Greg! March 5, 201214 yr Author Thanks Lewis, I think I spent more time putting patterns on than I will cutting all that stuff. But I find if I have the patterns on the wood it motivates me to finish them up, there's just something about seeing a finished projectthat motivates all of us. Lewis Kauffman said: A lot of work Greg and a lot more to go!!
