March 12, 201214 yr Hope everybody had a great weekend. I did, but it was to short as usual. I got a few things cut, most of the wings and ears for the pet angels I'm working on, and about 10 of the pet bodies. Took the wife out to eat Sunday as it was our anniversary. I cut a puzzle too, and shot a video of it, it's kinda long but take a look if you want. I didn't know my video camera would only shoot for 30 mins. so I didn't get all of the puzzle cutting on it. I made a couple of jigs that I will use for compound cutting too. What did everybody else get into this weekend? One of the jigs I made And the puzzle, well one of them actually. i stack cut 2 of these so the heart would be a contrasting color.  A handy little item I use when I'm cutting puzzles, I put all the pieces in there then use the shop vac to vacum the sawdust from the bottom, so you don't suck any pieces into the vacum hose. I got this idea from this book, a great book for puzzle making http://www.foxchapelpublishing.com/product_p/4802.htm Another good book is this one http://www.foxchapelpublishing.com/product_p/4291.htm And the video  GregScroll Saw forum hosthttp://www.thesawdustfactory.net/
March 12, 201214 yr Greg! Great post. And great video! I see a budding video producer here in the works. Your voice comes through nice and clear and your follow along is dead on.I had a good laugh, right when you said, "Now that we're ready, lets go" the camera jumped up and you got silent. I was busting a gut, I thought it was going to be one of those blooper moments. Thanks for taking the time to produce the video,Is there any follow up sanding on the puzzle edges?John MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project and Homes For Our Troops

March 12, 201214 yr Author  I bumbed the tripod. I'm actually enjoying making the videos. The blades I use leave very little "fuzzies" on the edges, so I usually just hand sand them with a 220 grit sanding sponge, I love those things. Also wood species has a lot to do with how much fuzz you get, pine and poplar seem to be the worst. I'm considering doing a blog on making puzzles. GregScroll Saw forum hosthttp://www.thesawdustfactory.net/
March 14, 201214 yr Greg - thanks for the video. Â It's always interesting to watch other scrollers at work. Â Wood, technique, blade choice, and blade speed are all things that we enjoy. Â Thanks again.Below is a little project that I finished up for a guy in North Carolina this weekend. Â It is a gift for a DAR convention. Â Made from 3/8" Oak on Cyprus background.(I used the "Upload Files" button to add the file. Â Hope it makes it. Â Think I like the "Imbed" better)Fredaka Pop's Shopwww.pops-shop.comEX-21'Don't complain about the storm - learn to dance in the rain.'
