March 15, 201214 yr A friend of mine, who winters in AZ and is from the western coast of Canada, built this beautiful machine I thought you folks would enjoy reading about. He gave me a few lessons on it and it is one great piece of woodworking as well as a fabulous machine for marquetry. Here's the link to his blog on LumberJocks. Chevalet de MarqueterieEnjoy.Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' March 15, 201214 yr That is pretty nice Gene. Really nice in fact. A tool, and a piece of art at the same time with a useful purpose. Marquetry is something most serious woodworkers are going to have to learn some day or another. It really opens up a new world of dynamics in furniture making. Way Gene, thanks for sharing.John MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project and Homes For Our Troops

March 15, 201214 yr Author Paul has graciously offered his help any time I'm ready to build one. I think I'd like to get much better with a scroll saw before committing to building a "donkey".Next weekend (3/17), we'll be at Paul's place inspecting his shop built drum sander. I'll probably play around with the donkey some more, too. Maybe, It'll change my mind.I know that he does some really fantastic stuff with it. Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.'
