March 18, 201214 yr Ok let's say I have 5 pieces of Birdseye Maple that I want to turn into a bowl. Is it better to match ends of the boards, or is it better to stagger end grain and side grain alternately? Not that maple has a high problem with end grain tear out, but I want to avoid large areas of dimples where the end grain may tear don't I?
