March 19, 201214 yr  I did get the backsaw handle finished up:So, it is now time for the next saw to get a handle.   The Donor saw has been hanging around, got it's saw plate de-rusted, and such.   It even donated all it's sawnuts to the other saws.   Now it is it's turn.  I have some old Barn Wood in the shop, 4/4 stuff ( Oak, maybe???) and could do a glue up to get the width i needed.    Once the glue-up was done, i could lay the old handle in place as a pattern:and trace out a handle.  Yep, old handle is shot.   There are a couple old cut nails, lurking in this blank, hopefully they are lurking out in the waste areas.   Anyway, I removed the pattern ( put away for safe-keeping, bolt holes) and checked out the work areas. Hmmm, small nail hole in one spot.  About as well as I can expect.   Next up?   Drill press( with the forstner bits), bandsaw, and router table.    These will do the heavy work of 1) small radii holes drilled smooth, 2) Handle hole drilled out, 3) bandsawn outline, ready to sand/shape, 4) Round over edges.  Router table is still set up to done 1/2" round overs.  Forstner bits will make the curves easier to saw out.   They will also help with the sawnuts, after i go out and buy a couple more $2 rusty saws.   Parts is parts, you know.    Until the next installment.........
