Friday, March 23, What's on Your Woodworking Agenda?

Can you believe we have almost moved through three months of 2012 already this year? Wow!

Here we are at another great weekend and time to get into the shop. I had a full week of work this past week and didn't get much shop time through the week, so I am way behind going into this weekend. I am still working on the Cedar Chest since I didn't touch it all week.

Looking forward to a visit from Ron Dudleston and his lovely wife Dorthy. I know I got to keep my eyes on him. He is wanting me to carry him over to the wood stash so we will see. I told him he would but he would have to be blind folded and no GPS unit. We will see. I will let you all know how that goes.

So share with us the projects you will be working on this weekend.

Woodworking, Home Improvement, HDL, or resting, share with us your weekend.

I am looking for an undercover agent in the area.

More later....

Well It appears Charles that you and I are the only ones not on Spring break that will be working this weekend. Hope you get all of the projects caught up. Have fun and be safe.

Hoping to make more progress on the lectern. Have the top assembly pieces cut and dry fitted for the mortise/tenon/dado's. In the pix the column pieces are to the rite of the dry fitted top assembly. My goal is to get the base pieces cut and fitted this weekend. Still need decorative edges routed and a "stop" added to the top assembly. Oh yes, Mimi just reminded me the lawn mower blade needs sharpened, too.

Just hoping to get the space cleaned out so I can start on my work bench. Need to run some electric and see about a few things. Once it is cleared out I can bring the wood in and get started.

Lew that is looking really nice. I like the style of the top with the space under the top. Looking forward to seeing the finished project.

I knew someone out there had to be getting some shop time.

As for me the only time I went into the shop this weekend was to get the weed eater and the leaf blower. Maybe tomorrow I can get in there for a little while. I think I may need to sharpen the blades also.

Wayne what type of bench are you building? Sounds like you got a pretty nice shop update going on.

This past week I had to wrap up my taxes, finish up the notes for Chapter 12 of Revelation for our small group bible study, and get an order done for a client back in NYC. I made him a large cutting board, 2 trivets and 6 coasters all made out of walnut. He also wanted 2 of my children's rocking chairs. I still have to package everything up and take it to the Post Office on Monday to get the shipping costs and then give him the final billing. Once this job is done then I can start on making up some frames for my daughter and then work on some patio furniture.

This weekend I am starting with a simple garden tool box. All pau on the tool box. I did not have a 1/2" dowel rod for a handle so I took some scrap and turned one out on the lathe. I burned rings into the handle one inch apart. Who doesn't need a handy measuring stick in the garden? That mini project is to get my profciency up... the big project is a picnic table.

Check out the plans. I am using dimensional lumber for the supports and redwood planks 5/4 x6"x72" for the top. I have the boards marked up and tomorrow is sawdust day!

If I get to it I will be chunking christmas berry for bowl blanks.

That is a nice picnic table project can't wait to see your finished version!!

As for me, I am putting final touches on products getting ready for the spring craft show season.  With 6 shows lined up so far, I probably going to be working more on the Quarter Maps (gotta have at least a couple dozen) than starting other new projects.  Busy, busy, busy - sure beats being a retired couch potato.  Grin.gif
