March 24, 201214 yr This is a "Patrizio" style pen from PSI its chrome with Cherry burl. I like the style of this pen but it can be a pain to get all the edges to line up correctly. March 24, 201214 yr Charles,Does the locking cam lever, for the tail stock, lift up or push down to tighten the tail stock?Charles Nicholls said:Oh yea the lathe is fine, still the drilling is a bit of an issue, when you lock the tailstock down just before drilling, it doesn't lock down at the same angle every time, so if you try drilling all the way through you have major heat issues which can split the blank or you have misalignment's if you don't drill straight through. I'd still love to have a drill press, but I cant afford 200+ for one and even then where to put it becomes an issue.John Morris said:John MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project and Homes For Our Troops
March 24, 201214 yr On my Delta lathe, the lever lifts up. I have to be very careful to pull the lever straight up or the tail stock will shift slightly to the side. My thought was that pushing down might not cause the same problem, but maybe it does, from what you are saying.Charles Nicholls said: Thanks Lew, The tailstock lever pushes down to lock, I wonder if it is slightly lifting it or skewing it when I lock it? in either case, its not doing the exact thing every time. March 25, 201214 yr Charles,Beautiful pen, love that cherry burl. I think you are very wise to have that guard cat. He looks like he will protect your stash of blanks. At least until someone pets him. lolthanks for sharingNo greater Loves than God, Family, Friends, country, the sight of flying chips and the smell of saw dust.
