Waitin on the Accu Head

Featured Replies

My new Accu Head is arriving Monday. I can't wait to get it in and give it a whirl on some of my Tiger Maple! The installation will be a little tricky. I downloaded the manual here below, it's the PDF attached file for you guys to view if your looking into one of these. The manual I have is for the installation into a Dewalt 735

I'll keep yall posted! Accu Head Installation.pdf

Woops, try the link now Charles, but yep, it's a cutter for the planer. It is a helical cutter instead of the standard straight knives.

What is that exactly? Part of a planer? All your link takes us to is a splash page with other links.

John I love the one that came in my Grizzly planer. You will be happy with the results I believe. Mine is great. I am glad that Bob Kloes talked me into it.

I hope so John. I know the Accu Head doesn't carry as many cutters as the Byrd Shelix or the other type, the name escapes me at this point. But it had great reviews. The price was right too. It is half the price as the Byrd and I am sure you'll have folks say there is a reason for that, but I am remaining positive and I'll let you all know how it performs as soon as I get it in. I expect it to cut nicely at first as all heads would, even straight knife heads cut nice at first, but the real test is going to be when I report in to you guys a few months down the road. It will be here Monday night and I hope to pull a late night Monday and get the cutter head installed, I got a serious job for a customer that has been waiting in the wings for this cutter head to arrive. I am behind a whole week on it.

John, I have come to believe that being behind on a job is the normal. I have five porch swings that were to be ready the first of April. I took about 500 bf of white oak to be kiln dried back in late October. I found at a couple of weeks ago they didn't put it in the kiln until sometime in February. So I don't have the lumber back and now there is no way to have five swings ready by the first of April. Oh well. I have talked to the customer and explained and they are okay with it.

Thanks for the encouragement John. The best laid battle plans are only good the first 5 minutes in the field right?
