Bench Hook upgrade

Featured Replies

I made a new bench hook this weekend. Took about an hour used scrap on it as I did my first one (on the left). This time I added a kerf that should add stability as both sides of the board are supported. It should also limit blowout.ning-benchhook2325-31853-13.jpg?width=45ning-benchhook23251-31853-11.jpg?width=4 It's reversable so I can wear two sides and extend the life a bit.

Nice job. The kerf helps a lot. I have three on mine. One for square cuts and two at opposite 45 deg. angles. that I use for small pieces of trim.

This really nice Mark. I have to admit, the first time a saw a Bench Hook was on the Roy Underhill show when he made his. And it was only for planing.

I did not realize the bench hook could be adapted to various tasks including sawing as well. This is really opening up a nice dimension to expanding the capabilities of our benches. Great job Mark!!! I have a couple in the works as we speak!

I haven't had much need for the 45 degree yet so I left it out for now. I did make a 45 degree attachment for my shooting board though.
