Did a walk-out this morning, and stopped at three places.   First was the heart Doctor, said i was doing GREAT!!  Next was the Poplar Street Thrift Store & Emphorium.    Picked out ONE saw, paid $2.13.   Found out about an "Honest Quarter".  Seems there is a quarter, super-glued to the counter where you pay for items.   IF you tell the cashier about that quarter, they will hand you a quarter, for being "honest".  I used the "Honest Quarter Prize to pay the Govenor his cut.

Ok, one down four saws to go.    Walked a couple more blocks, or,just around the courthouse, to the Trade-N-Post.    Picked out the four best ( out of six) saws there.   Paid a whopping eight dollar bills!!   Then came that 8 block walk home.   Got a might thirsty, so i "drove"into the Drive-thru, and bought a Mountain Dew.    Got home and looked over the haul.   A few Disstons, and an Adkins saw.   A few photos,if you like?ning-sdc12321-31330-56.jpg?width=750The unfamous Warrented Superior medallion  on an 8 point skew back. Note those "domed" Brass bolts, nextning-sdc12322-31330-55.jpg?width=750a better look, nextning-sdc12323-31330-1.jpg?width=750Blackfoot's  The Highway Song er i mean saw.    Nickel plated sawnuts, with a warrented Superior medallion.  Maybe an 8 point??It does have an "etch"ning-sdc12324-31330-21.jpg?width=750 It does say Adkins across the top, in the circle.    Hard to clean this up, without wiping it out.  Nextning-sdc12325-31330-84.jpg?width=750Yeah, I know it says $3, BUT I paid just $2.    At least a 12 pointer, no medallion Shorty, about 20" long.  A few kinks in the blade, though.  Might be a donor saw, for the bolts and handle.  Wheat looks good though:ning-sdc12326-31330-4.jpg?width=750That's Shorty in front, the Highway saw behind it, One more?ning-sdc12327-31330-30.jpg?width=750A Disston "Keystone" PACE MAKER , 8 point saw.   WITH the FULL etch, no less.  Brass hardware with a WS Medallion.    Like the Wheat carving on this one?  One other saw to talk about.   A disston U.S.A.  D-8 with the 8 inside the D in the etch ( yes there is an etch)  11 pointer, with big Brass hardware.   It does have some black electrical tape around the bottom horn, I'll have to see what is going on there.  Not too bad a trip, today...Grin.gif

Underneath that black tape.... a big old cracked handle, clean across.   Other than "shorty", the other saws range from 24" to 26" long.   The longest being that "no-name" saw.     At LEAST 26" in length, will check it out later, when i find my #@#@ tape measure  (again)  .   That Atkins saws is a 24" long saw.  A few too many kinks in it, might be a donor saw, afterall.  Have yet to I.D. that no-name saw, doesn't match anything Ol'Henry D. put out, handle wise.    We have a mystery on our hands here...

Hardware from the atkins saw aka The highway saw, went onto the Orphan saw project.  i had to "loan" one saw nut from another of the new arrivals, to make the orphan whole.   Put the cleaned up Brass hardware back in the handle they came from.  I'll glue the crack back together later.   Shorty's saw blade is JUNK, so i used that Toolbox saw blade in it's place.   Need to re-drill a few holes, though.  Atkins saw handle will be elsewhere as well.   Not sure just yet, though.

The No- Name saw, will get a GOOD cleaning, maybe I'll find out WHAT saw maker made it.

This is going to be a little FUN....Grin.gif Cheap entertainment, too.     Remember, this was FIVE saws, for just $10.13....

Shorty  Saw UPDATE!!  We have ETCH!!!   Shorty is a Greyhound P80 11 pointer saw.    Made by the George H. Bishop Co., in Cincinnati, Ohio.   Soooo, I cleaned the rest of the saw plate up, cleaned the bolts up (all four of them, NO Medallion)and sanded the old finish ( and that price sticker) off.  I'll refinish the tote.   Atkins saw plate is trashed.  Gone.   Handle will be on a Tool Box Saw plate I have on hand.    Sawnuts  went into the Orphan Saw Project.  Along with the WS Medallion.  Sanded all that silver paint off, along with those letters someone stamped on it.

I have a couple cracked handles to glue back up, sometime.   Need a few more saw nuts.    About cleaned the thrift store out of saws, though.   One more store to clean out.....Grin.gif

Ok, I've  IDed  four of the five saws:

Crosscut saw from Atkins,  saw plate is full of waves ( no good) handle can be recycled.

An 11 pointer, D8 ( 8 was outside the D) Brass hardware.  Handle has been re-glued, due to a crack.

A "George H  Bishop" P80  Cross cut.    Shorty.   Handle needs fixed up, and a crack or two filled in.

Disston Keystone Pace Maker 8 pointer, nickel plated hardware.  Needs one sawnut.

That leaves ONE saw not Identified.   An 8 pointer, three domed sawnuts (one with a Brass nut)That are nickel plated.   The warrented Superior Medallion is Brass.    This is a LONG saw,   a full inch longer then the others.   One small kink, about halfway down the tooth line, fixable.   No etch.    Handle has a stamp or two on it ( both sides in fact) one stamp shows up as 25056, and the other is simply 10.     There is also a 10 stamped into the blade at the top right in front of the handle, stamped hard enough to show through the other side.   Finish is a "walnut" colour, wood is not.   Need to find out who made this saw.....
