April 10, 201214 yr  Been a bit busy with the saws. Time for them to "show off" a bit.   not all are done, a few "projects' saws to be completed.  Ok, ready for some pictures???First "Project Saw" :  Keep the blade( Disston Panel saw) throw that thing of a handle away.Second half of the "Project Saw".   Throw away the Made in China blade, keep the handle.Get the idea?  A Disston/ STEIGO Hybrid Saw?Ok, now for the REAL saws.  Disston Warrented Superior No.76 Centenial. The D-8 , 11 pointerThis etch belongs to a Disston Keystone Pace maker sawand it's handle.  All shined up, The Orphan Saw, a Disston D-23, and a shorty saw is nextGeorge H. April 11, 201214 yr Author  Hybrid Saw is now completed!  The Disstonian/Steigonian Hybrid panel saw.    A blend of East & West..   Right after these pictures, it went into the saw-vise, for a rip style sharpening.  More "Eye Candy' coming up.... An overall view, blade length is 20" , at 11 ppi.  Ready for the "Close-up"??Yep, there are TWO Medallions on MY saw.   Finish?   A blend of Ipswich Pine, and just enough Poly Gloss to make it a wipe on finish.    How does it cut?   Fast & Neat!!!    And now, I have others to work on...... April 12, 201214 yr Author  Still unsure about an Atkins saw.    Needs a blade straightening, big time.  Put the old Disston handle on the Atkins blade, they seem to go together. Handle for the Irwin Toolbox saw is the old Atkins handle. three sawbolts, some router work on the edges, and some finish= new Toolbox saw. Mr. Bishop's saw:   Will have to take the handle back off.  needs some glue in a crack that showed up at the blade side of the handle.  Just spread the crack a little bit more, smear some titebond into the crack, and clampit, Jed.   then a re-finish. May have to go out and BUY new saw files ( @~$6 each) as I am slowly wearing mine out.   After these saws, I'll have just three more to re-finish.    Mostof the blades are cleaned, and presentable.     Most are even sharp!    The only saw blade that has gone into the trash can has been the STEIGO plate, I have never seen a saw blade in an "S" curve shape before.  Hope to not see another one, either.    Blade was real flimsy, easy to bend, maybe for cutting curves???
