April 12, 201214 yr Author Thanks guys!Arlin, I started making this style of box about 30 years ago. Another woodworking friend and I were playing around one day and came up with the style. It's the sort of style that can be up or down sized and you can play with the shape. We used to make pictures on the drawer fronts in a kind of intarsia process. Inlayed bone for a moon and silver for stars. Usually, desert at night scenes.Maybe, I'll start doing that again......maybe.Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. April 12, 201214 yr Gene, that is so beautiful. I love the contrast in the woods and the shape. Excellent Craftsmanship.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
April 13, 201214 yr Author Thanks, John. Other than the drawer pull, the wood arrangement was dictated by what I used in making some candy dishes. And THAT was because oak and walnut was what I had on hand. Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. K. Chesterton
