April 14, 201214 yr Just when things are going great, I've got my number 5 Jack planing away on some curly, thought I had direction and figure all figured out when all the sudden, GRAB!!!!!!!! CLUNK!!!! darn!!!!!! The first two words were the sound of my plane diggin into some curl and kicking up a big ol gouge, the last word was mine coming out of my lungs as it happened. SH*#! That last one I didn't say because I was choking back tears but wanted to say it. I was planing with the grain, and caught some reverse grain curling up on me, well, it is hand made right!!!!! I'd snap some pics but it wouldn't do it justice. Back to shop, I'll pick up my ego on the way out. April 16, 201214 yr Author I was able to save it, fortunately there was enough depth in material that it hid well after I planed it correctly this time.
