April 16, 201214 yr  Got some work done today on that computer desk.   Of course, i also had a couple saws to work on as well. Anyway, I worked on getting the top nice and smooth, and flat.   As a start, a "scrub" with the converted #33 ( now a scrub plane) along the glue joints.   Next, diagonals with the NEW jack plane.  And finally, a smooth plane worked the whole top with the grain.   I do have three ( counted them) smooth planes. Which one to use?   hey, how about that Stanley handyman #4? see through shavings!  Anyway, turned this Angry beaver loose on the topThen the handsaws were supposed to take over and square the ends.   Well.... they did do one end, but Ol'grandpa got winded, and got out the circ. saw for the other end. Then, I could set up to do bread board ends: That square set the distances i need. Strip of wood buries about half of one cutter.  C-clamps hold it in place.  Dado is about 5/8" wide, blade height is around 1/8".  Seems to workAlso done was two drawers.  Dovetailed on the jig with my new router, bottom grooves on the sides and front, dado for the backs, and a test fitof the drawers, and the bread boards.  UGLY legs, ain't they? As for the saw i brought out to work on ? I had a "Homeless Saw Handle by Disston, and a handleless blade by irwin ( threw out that UGLY handle) but needed bolts. I had some 1/4"x20 x 2" hex heads in the shop.   Not enough threads, drat.   hey, I'll just cut more threads on each bolt.   Got out the cutter, and now threads are long enough.  Bolt is too long though.  oh well, install them anyway, nice and tight.   Took the "mess over to my grinder, and ground off the excess flush. Then hung the saw up while i went back to work on other itemsThat's the Hybrid saw hanging behind it.   Well, a 6 hour day in the shop.... 'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
