April 18, 201214 yr Hi guys and ladies. This topic concerns making Slimline pens with Mun Ebony. Have you ever made a Slimline type pen with Mun Ebony? Did it sell if you tried? This is the first time i have ever used Mun Ebony, so i wasn't quite sure what the demand for it would be or even what it would turn out to look like. I noticed right away that it has mainly a tan color with black/grey blotches and streaks through it, which proved interesting to me, but as i got down to proper thickness for a slimline pen (about 8-9 mm), most of the Grey/Black had been removed and only fine streaks of it remained on one piece and not at all on the other. I walk away from this with one thought, and that is never waste Mun Ebony on a slimline type pen, it'll ruin the features. Any input appreciated Charles Nicholls Site Host nicholls61@att.nethttp://www.nichollswoodworks.com This website is new so it doesn't have much to it yet but you are welcome to take a look
April 18, 201214 yr Actually it can make very nice slimline pens but it looks like your blank is more sap wood. But yours will still turn out nice.
April 18, 201214 yr Well I have never made a pen with Mun Ebony Charles, but that is a nice looking pen. I can see from looking up the wood that it should be a darker color. The platinum looks good on that blank.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
