This is a Steve Good design that I just finished.  It's made out of walnut and sweet gum.  It's 9 1/2 inches in diameter.  Scrolled with a # 2 blade for all the interior cuts.  Sanded primarily with a sanding mop, and finished with mineral oil.  I have designed a stand for it, but not quite done with it yet.  Need to attach the hinges.  Thanks for looking and comments are encouraged and appreciated.

Wow very nice. I knew you would come back on with a nice project.

When you can post some updated pictures of the latest board bowls.

Nice to see your smiling face back on here. Wait I can't see a smile on your avatar face. Oh well it must be smiling!

Nice work. As others have said, good to "see" you back, SQ.

I have a question. What is a sanding mop?

Ok, first off Sue, welcome home!!! Great to see ya around these parts again.

I have once question, and I think I know the answer, did you purposely use the lite wood at the bottom of the project? It looks perfect to define what could be the water. The color is amazing, very warm, very nice, and a great item.

So, how is the booth working?

Thanks Harry,

The sanding mops are the best! They are fantastic for getting into fret work. Mine is attached to my Sand Flee but I believe they can be used in a drill press. These mops come in many different grits. It's nice to be back here - but I never wonder far. (grin)

I didn't have time earlier to post a picture of the sanding mop but here goes.  Picture of mop from two different angles.  Sanding mop doesn't hurt your hands but requires a firm hold on the item if you don't want it tossed across the shop.   Grin.gif

John,

Yes, the lighter wood at the bottom of the plaque was on purpose.  I wasn't even sure that detail would be obvious in the picture.  Appreciate you noticing.

I never jumped ship.  Who in their right mind would leave this group?  You can always count on me to surface from time to time.

Shop I've placed my items in has been fun and motivating.  Gives me a reason to spend even more time in the shop.  My hope is to keep the display fresh and interesting,  so plan to keep keep adding new items as often as possible.  Rest assured,  you can count on me to dust myself off - as time allows and take a picture or two.  Grin.gif

A picture is worth a 1,000 words! Now I know what a sanding mop is.

Thanks
