April 27, 201214 yr Sam Maloof had a unique method for visualizing the design and proportions of his custom furnishings before he went to the build process. He liked to see his designs in true size, to scale, and he would often use what type of surface to trace his full size templates on in order to gain perspective of the piece?John Morris The Patriot Woodworker Proud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project and Homes For Our Troops
April 27, 201214 yr Man, I should know that! Tami and I went to Sam Maloof's home and did the tour and walked the grounds last year and really enjoyed it. I know that the tour guide talked about it but I can't remember what was. Oh well, I look forward to hearing the answer.John, you really do need to get out there some time and see his place and take the tour and walk the grounds. You would really enjoy it. Spring and fall are the best times as it can get toasty out there in the summer months. But you really have to call and make reservations to do the house tour as it fills up fast. It is out off the 210 fwy and Vineyard in Alta Loma. It would be a nice day tcp for you and Tonya.http://www.malooffoundation.org/Allen WorshamCorona, CAallenworsham@earthlink.nethttp://www.awcreationsandwoodcrafts.com'Graze in every man's field, but always give your own milk' J. April 28, 201214 yr Author Well it looks like we skunked ya guys!!!!!! Your right Allen you should know this!!! Mr Maloof would often set a full size template on his shop floor, frequently near his band-saw where he did much of his work and he would trace the pattern on the floor!
