April 28, 201214 yr a couple of weeks ago I bought a 1947 Delta Unisaw at an auction. The same day I threw an opening bid of $20 on this late 40's Craftsman 6 1/8" jointer and won it for the $20. I tore it down and repainted it and cleaned all of the cast surfaces. It cuts like a dream. For the record it was made by King Seelyand is really heavy.  Ron DudelstonSite HostAbove and Beyond WoodWorks
April 28, 201214 yr Ron, that thing cleaned up great. That was a heck of a steal at that price too. GregScroll Saw forum hosthttp://www.thesawdustfactoryga.com/

April 28, 201214 yr  Ron if your talking about the small jointer in the background, is it for sale? Very nice find Ron. The early Craftsman tools were built very well. In the early 80s I bought a Craftsman contractor table saw with a solid cast iron table. The only problem was when I was attaching the cast iron wings I found a very large dip in the table and it was large enough that you could feel it with your hand so I boxed it up, took it back to Sears and wanted to exchange it for another one. After checking the tops on 4 different Saws at the stores and finding a dip in the same location I gave up and bought a radial arm saw instead. They dont make tools like they used to. Â

April 28, 201214 yr Ron-That is a awsome Jointer, good find! Beautiful job restoring it. Do you have any pictures of it before you cleaned it up?
April 28, 201214 yr Author I wish I would have taken some before photos Randy but I didn't. I was getting ready to leave for Branson and OWWAMOs and the time eluded me. It was pretty rusty and crusty though. I mounted it on a rolling stand today and made an aluminum belt guard for it also.Ron DudelstonSite HostAbove and Beyond WoodWorks
April 28, 201214 yr Ron-Ive done that myself a few times, its easy just to jump in and start on something and then tell people Boy! you should have seen it before I started. When I bought my house 25 plus years ago the back yard had a bunch of Juniper growing along the fence we thought. We just started cutting it out and by the time we were finished I had an extra 20' of property. The Juniper was so tall and thick you couldn't see the fence behind it. When we were finished ripping it all out we look at each other and said wow we should have taken a picture before we started, what a difference!Your Jointed looks wonderful iregardles of what you started with! Maybe I can have one of my own some day.Randy  Ron Dudelston said:I wish I would have taken some before photos Randy but I didn't. I was getting ready to leave for Branson and OWWAMOs and the time eluded me. It was pretty rusty and crusty though. I mounted it on a rolling stand today and made an aluminum belt guard for it also.Ron DudelstonSite HostAbove and Beyond WoodWorks

May 6, 201214 yr Hi Ron,Good work on a good restoration piece as they are one of the better jointers Craftsman put out.DanÂ
December 23, 201213 yr That's the one to have. The head elevation is adjustable. I've always steared clean of Cman jointers because knife installation could be a pain and jointing a touching up would require too much effort, but yours can be easily adjusted.Dan Coleman
December 23, 201213 yr Author Dan, I have this fined tuned and it cuts great.Ron DudelstonSite AdministratorAbove and Beyond WoodWorks
December 23, 201213 yr I passed on one of these a few years ago for $50 because I didn't look close enough to see it was the older adjustable model, and I was too excited about all the other stuff surrounding me. I lightened my bilfold and loaded my 4 x 8 trailer that day with mostly Delta stuff.Dan Coleman
December 23, 201213 yr Man, Ron. That cleaned up nice. As Shane said, Looks better than new.Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. K. Chesterton
February 4, 201313 yr For $20.00? That's a hockey sticks of a deal.  Nice little machine from back when craftsman made good tools.
