May 6, 201214 yr Gene those look great! Where did you get the pattern or is it your own? Thanks for posting!
May 6, 201214 yr Author Thanks Mike.Got the idea from a book by Lois Ventura. Like all woodworkers I guess, I had to change a few things to make it "mine".Another one of this design has just been glued up. This one is Mesquite, walnut and turquoise inlay. Inlay only because the mesquite was so worm eaten.Pics later. Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. K. Chesterton

May 7, 201214 yr Author Arlin,I used a 3/16, 4 TPI blade from Suffolk Machinery. I also have on hand 1/4 and 1/8 blades. They do come in handy. Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. K. Chesterton
May 7, 201214 yr Gene, Do the Japanese keep Habu snakes in these? If so I wouldn't want to be the one opening the box! Â Â Nice work on these by the way. Â Larry Old Woodworking Machinery Forum Host

May 8, 201214 yr Author Hi Larry,Thanks for the compliment. The Habu I saw BARELY fit in a 6 liter jug of Sake! Heck, the head alone wouldn't fit in my Habu Box.Hey Greg, Thanks for your kind words. The next one is the same shape. Just made from a mesquite crotch. Have to fill the worm holes and natural voids with epoxy and turquoise. Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. K.
