May 9, 201214 yr Well here it is Wednesday evening and just getting a chance to sit down at this computer. Been called back to "Active Duty", again, to fill in for the Network Administrator at the school where I used to teach. He is on his honeymoon all this week and part of next week. The only thing I did in the shop this week is to pass through on the way to the washer and dryer. For this week's "wisdom"- First- a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mr0YwTE_rpw&feature=youtu.be showing the rudiments of turning a natural edge bowl. This is not a detailed step-by-step but it does give you an idea of the procedure. There is some commercialization at the beginning but not too much. For more complete information- from another source- here is a step-by-step for making a natural edge bowl. It is nice to see different approaches to the same end. Next is a link to another type of project- a winged box- The link comes from the monthly newsletter of Wood turning Online Hope to be back in the shop by the end of next week. Until then how about some of our new members posting their prize projects! Lew Kauffman- Wood Turners Forum Host Time traveler. Purveyor of the world's finest custom rolling pins!
May 10, 201214 yr I love those natural edge bowls. One of these days I am going to spend some time and turn one. I keep thinking I will do that. I am about like you Lew. I have not been in the shop much, but did get a little bit of time and got the cutting board started.I am hoping to get some time in there this weekend though.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
