May 10, 201214 yr  I had some dados to chop out.    After using a full sized handsaw ( the pieces were 4x6s) and a big framer chisel to chop out a couple of these....Decided it was taking too long.   Time to bring out the (gasp!!!) power saw.It even had a new blade in it Went to work, making a bunch of saw kerfs, pre-set for depth.   Then just a matter of knocking out the waste, and a chisel to clean things upYep, handsaws are nice, but sometimes, you just gotta plug it in.    saw is a Sears Craftsman, all metal, with at least an eight foot cord,  60s Vintage, maybe???? May 10, 201214 yr Author  It is an 1-1/2" wide framer's chisel.   As in timber framing.     It has a big old iron hoop at the other end.   That Craftsman saw is almost as old as I am......ancient, I know.    Still works very good though.   As for that handsaw?I tend to use it a bit more, nowadays.    It is a workout, though, so the Circ.saw got the nod.    Other toys in use?this was the main clean-up crew, witha little help from a block plane I recently re-habbedand a scraper plane for that top...Just a few toys.....
