May 12, 201214 yr A while back I posted a picture of some unusual wood I obtained from a small tree/shrub I cut down last year after it died. I was going to use it for fire wood, until I cut it. It had some very unusual grain, so I stored it until it looked like it stabilized. A couple of days ago, my wife asked me to make a small vase to hold her crochet needles. She wanted it small so she could keep the proper needle with the project while she went to another project or she had to quit for a time on the crochet project.  I knew it was the perfect time to try out the new wood. The shapes you see were dictated by the bad places, knots, etc that I had to work around. Maybe someone may have an idea of what kind of tree it was. It was about 6 to 7 ft high, 4 to 6" in dia. The unusual part was that vines came down from the limbs and had flowers on them.
May 12, 201214 yr RonLove the appearance of these. Would be interested in finding out what kind of wood this is. What did you finish it with?Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.
