Last week I posted my fist intarsia/ segmentation combo.  That got me hooked after fam and friends went crazy over it so I started playing with patterns I had been skipping over.  In a week I have finished 4 more projects.  I would love your thoughts, comments, criticisms.  Still trying to figure out pricing on these.  few if anyone sells this stuff in my area ever.  Almost never see any at craft shows and then most are all painted.  BTW these are all full intarsias.  No paints or dyes this time.

ning-bloomingflower-28784-83.jpg?width=7This one is made from 100 year old poplar and cyprus I reclaimed from my fathers chicken coop built in 1908.  its possible the wood is far older since a pre civil war home was torn down to build the home this is a part of.  the red in the flowers is Paduk.

ning-rose-28784-46.jpgThis one is again the poplar.  the vase and leaves all came from teh same board.  LOVE the color variation in the vase part.  The bud is Bloodwood.

ning-finishedkitty-28784-36.jpgDecided with this one I wanted to use more than 3 types of wood and add more of a challenge.  the main fur is Cyprus (new not old) with Hickory near the eye.  Aspen was used for teh mouth area.  Perbo Rosa was used on the nose.  for the eye I used the old poplar and Sycamore was used in the  ears.   Walnut for the pupil and nostril.   Must more of a challenge with this one to get a 3D effect I wanted.  I dont even have a belt sander.  did this with an orbital sander, a 2 inch drum sander and a fine grit flap sander..... I need a better system LOL

ning-indianmadian-28784-81.jpgAnd finally the Indian Maiden.  I bought this pattern yesterday morning about 9 am.  by 11 she was cut.  Add in a few hours sleep (I work nights), family visiting, and other distractions by 9 pm I was shaping this one.  1 am she was getting glued up and in less than 24 hours she was ready to hang.  LOVE THIS ONE.  second is already cut out with a different combo of wood.   For her I used ribbon Mahogany for the hair, with walnut and Jakoba highlights.  her body is steamed cherry, the face paint aso the cherry just a much lighter part of the board.  her dress is sycamore.  for the feathers I used Paduk, Bloodwood, and Purple Heart with cyprus veins.  She stands about 17 inches tall.

I hope you like these and again please give me any thoughts you might have on them.  I am a newbie at this and need all the advice I can get.

WOW!!! That's some great looking "work".

Looks like you have a good handle on it. 113.gif113.gif41.gif41.gif

Joe, first let me say thank you for sharing your work with us here. I think they all look great, it looks like your getting hooked on intarsia. And your descriptions of each one help to see the different woods. As far as advice I don't do intarsia so I can't help you there. The only thing I see is on the vase there are a couple spots where there is a little gap. Your choice of woods works really well with all of these patterns.

Joe, that second one looks as great as the first. personally I like the colors of the second one better, both of them have good combinations, I just like the woods you used in #2 better. Keep up the good work.
