June 26, 201214 yr  the Three Amigos were in the shop.    First a tear down. Got to clean thing up, and get ready for paint:The one in the middle is a Stanley 120, and it needed a new knob, so while the paint was drying..I fired up the Ol' Craftsman lathe, and turned some beech.   Almost sounds like Bud ( Beechwood aged).  i learned a long time ago to turn doubles, just in case one goes down in flames..  These two turned out fairly decent.   I drilled the holes to mount two knobs.    I also sharpened up a couple irons, with the 120's being the worst.   I gave a couple of them a test drive along Pine AvenueThe 120, with it's new knob.  And the Sargent 107 clone, with it's now knob.  It's iron stayed a cambered one, that is why the shavings are different.   While out in the shop tonight, also stripped down a knob from my new Type16 Bailey #6.   As for the three Amigos?   they joined the rest of the Rogues Gallery...and the Bailey?  No, that ain't no Rosewood.....More like oiled down Beech... 'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
