June 26, 201214 yr The heat (103º today), wind (gusts up to 30mph) and low humidity (9%) has kept me out of my shop a lot, but I have finished a piece and will post it soon. I am waiting on the other piece to make the set. You know I make unusual things and these are no exception. I don't have air conditioning in my garage, don't need it 95% of the time. However when it gets in to the 100s, it does get warm in there, even the fans pump out hot air.  So far, none of the 14 active fires have been close to us, but we can smell the smoke from time to time. You have to feel really bad for those people that are losing their homes.  I hope to finish those projects tomorrow and will post them, if I can work in my shop for a few hours, I may be able to do it.
June 27, 201214 yr One thing good about the heat, paint drys quicker! Here in Mt. it's been a record 99 for the last 2 days. Cooling down for the next few. My days off for the next 2 so I can get busy. Harry BrinkBulldog WoodworkingMontana
June 27, 201214 yr Ron I think it is hot everywhere right now. I have air in the shop but don't leave it on all the time when I am not there. So in the evenings it is so hot it won't cool down much.Hope the fires stay away from you and yes I hate to see those folks loose everything. That must be tough.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
June 28, 201214 yr They've upped the forecast for here today ( S.E. WI. ) to 100, with dewpoints in the mid 70's. Heat index forecast for 110. It was 81 at 5:00 AM , and is 91 now at 9:52 AM. Larry
June 28, 201214 yr Author  Larry, we finally got a break in the heat. Our monsoon season is starting and we are getting scattered showers. I think that a high of 93 is a cooling off after what we had, but your temperatures are far worse. I will try to finish my projects today and get some pictures taken.Stay as cool as you can and be smart by drinking a lot of water.Ron
June 29, 201214 yr I'm in FL and you guys have it worse in WI! I am from Chicago and people in FL never believe me when I say summer in the Midwest is worst then the S. lots of water and hide from the sun.
June 29, 201214 yr Randy, It made it to 99, with a dewpoint of 74. Humidity 58%. Heat index was 104 at 3:00 PM I'm in Kenosha County about 5 miles north of the WI / Ill border. If you ever went to The Brat Stop you were about 2 1/2 miles east of me. Larry
June 29, 201214 yr  Got to 104 here in Ohio today, didn't even look at tomorrow's forecast.   Off until sat evening.   whatever it is outside at work, add 20-30 degrees inside.   glad I'm sitting at home.  Maybe tomorrow NIGHT I can get that KK7 re-habbed.  'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
June 29, 201214 yr Steve, Reliefs headed your way, 65 at 5:00 AM with a forecsat high of 88 here today. Low 90's forecast for the weekend with possible rain. We need it. The lawn is brown and crunchy. I remember being in the body shop at the plant in these heat waves, wearing all the welding equipment. It would get to 135 in the welding boothes even with outside air piped in.

It is still home, but Colorado weather is the best I've been in. It is just great and I wish I would have moved here years ago. 'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
