Children's Knock Down Rocking Chair Templates Available

Featured Replies

Last year before Christmas I made up a number of sets of hardboard templates for the "Children's Knock Down Rocking Chairs" that I make. I got a great response and all sets were sold quickly and I have had a number of folks asking for more. There were a couple of problems dealing with the hardboard templates from my end. First of all it was very labor and time intensive to make the full-size templates in quantities. Second there were shipping issues due to the size of packaging required and the high cost of shipping as well as some orders being damaged during shipping due to rough handling on the part of the USPS.

So with that I have had to go to "Plan P" which is "Paper Templates"

I am making up sets of paper templates traced out on one and a half sheets 24"x36" high quality printing paper which are much more shipping friendly as well as less expensive than shipping hard templates. The original templates that I started with were paper templates that I got from another woodworker on another woodworking forum. I made some changes the his templates to make them work out better and then made my own hard templates over an afternoon in the shop.

The paper templates need to be spray glued onto a hard substrate like 1/4" Hardboard, MDF or Plywood and then cut out using a band saw or jig saw and then edge sanded to the lines. Once you have made your  first set of master hard templates, you are set for life.

So if anyone is interested in a set of paper templates just shoot me an email (listed below) or PM here on TPW and let me know. The cost is $20 per set which includes shipping as well as detailed instructions for making your templates and chairs. I prefer dealing with "Pay Pal" as it is a free service for the buyer. If you are "technically challenged" or are not comfortable with "Pay Pal", I will do it by check but there may be a bit of delay.

So remember that Christmas is coming quickly. Make as many chairs as you want for your kids, grandkids or to sell at craft shows.

Just an FYI- I got permission from John Morris to post this. All proceeds go back into my shop for future projects for gifts and my wife's school so the money will not be spent on frivolous things like groceries or house payments.Grin.gif

Makes more sense to me. Really cuts back on the expenses of shipping and most gals/guys have stock around the shop to make the templates.

I have to agree most have the stock for making templates.
