I started wood working as a kid.  My dad was a builder and I later became a builder along with two brothers that were builders.  I was  a builder for 12 years before the recession hit and decided to go into software engineering.  I am currently a quality engineer and thinking strongly about retiring soon.  As a quality engineer we build training simulators for the Army and National Guard. Mostly for Bradley's, Abrams, and Strikers. I was born and raised in Michigan and enjoy the state very much.  Not much of a hunter anymore, but have recently taken up fly fishing and cross country skiing.

Mostly have done wood working out of my garage but planning to build a wood shop at my cabin after we sell our home.  Cabin was recently built in the last 7 years and I did all the work myself with the help of my family and wife.  Plan is to make it a summer home and head south for a few months  in the winter. My wife is a teacher an will retire in three years.

My wood working projects have been furniture, cabinets, and wood carving projects, besides building custom homes and cottages.  I see there is a multitude of experience in this group and I am sure I can learn a thing or two and hope at some point I can share some of my experiences also.

Steve, welcome to our site. Thank you for your introduction and I hope you keep coming back and share. I am sure we will be able to glean some very useful information from you as well!

What a wonderful job you have or had, working closely with military and what a challenge.

Your cabin summer home sounds like a dream, I hope to hear more about it and maybe some pics too? Thanks again Steve for being here.
