July 6, 201214 yr  Stopped at a "Huge" garage sale, five family size.   Looked over all the selection of old hand tools there on the driveway.    Saw a big old piece of iron, kind of black, kind of dusty, and just a spot of rust on it.  "How much for that old piece of iron?" "How much would you think to donate to the Church?" "All I have in my pocket.   Just some change, what I have until next weeks payday" " That's fine, just pay the donation jar"  Loaded up this heavy old chunk of black iron into the van, and drove home, been a LONG day...Clamped to the only bench I have that will hold it.    This is a Disston style...Saw Vise.   Mover i've had for a few years.   Saw Vise needs a good clean up, but everything seems to work.   Even have a "customer" for it right now... A $2 Dovetail saw, in a $.85 saw vise, and a "High-Tech Workbench".  Not too bad..... 'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
July 8, 201214 yr Author  Cleaned up most of the parts yesterday.   There is still a lot of Japanning left on it.   Debating whether to re-paint, or just let it go.    Clamps a saw blade nice and evenly.   Now, IF I can get that $5 SKIL SAW to start up.    Might be a need for new brushes? Just a little trim saw....would be a nice little saw... July 10, 201214 yr Author  Still have the SKILL saw, just haven't had time to really look at it.  Cord needs work, will need brushes replaced.   We'll see how this goes.   If nothing else, I still have a couple handsaws.... 'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
