July 10, 201214 yr Been working on a new design for my rolling pins. Seems not every one is enthralled with the horizontal display holders. These are my latest ideas- Counter top display Wall Display- Both the wall and counter top displays are similar. The only real difference is the bottom "foot" The wall display without the pin- When resawing the walnut, a pleasant surprise- some tiger grain Finished with a couple of coats of semigloss poly, buffed with 0000 steel wool and a layer of Briwax Rustic Pine. July 11, 201214 yr Lew those are cool man, I like em. Nice and clean and sleek and they let the pins speak loudly.I got a question. How does the Briwax Rustic Pine play into this? Does it add color or tone? I Have never used it before and I am curious.John MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project and Homes For Our Troops
July 11, 201214 yr Author John,Thanks for the kind words!I just wanted to add a little "feel" to the finish. Thought about using Johnson's Paste Wax but was afraid it might leave white specks in any grain indentations. I didn't fill the grain before applying the poly. The Briwax dried darker. It was probably just overkill anyway. The Briwax is thinner and the stuff I have is very dark in color compared to the Johnson's. John Morris said:Lew those are cool man, I like em.
