July 12, 201214 yr I just need to rant a bit. I just finished a freebie job for our neighbor who is a single mom with 3 children and a stretched income. Her 14 year old daughter has a chest of drawers ala WalMart. It is 100% particle board and every drawer was falling apart. After 2 hours, a whole lotta TB II and new screw holes the drawers are back together. I guess I'm just spoiled becasue I make everything from solid wood.OK, rants over. Thanks for listening.Ron DudelstonSite HostAbove and Beyond WoodWorks

July 12, 201214 yr A home full of particle board absolutely has to have a good dehumidifier running all the time.

July 12, 201214 yr I had a visit to a new IKEA store here and it is HUGE and filled with furniture made of glue and wood chips. (particle board) Don't get me wrong, if weren't for that fake wood, most people would not be able to afford furniture and we would certainly have a shortage of quality wood. It is also an excellent way of recycling wood. I don't like it, even if most of my house is made of it. It is however serving a good purpose. I would think that if they wanted to, they could improve it a great deal, make it lighter and stronger. But why bother when it is so cheap, compared to real wood. Just my 2 cents
