July 20, 201213 yr Well after the ordeal with the plant I moved on to the jointer today to change the knives and turn it up. I thought I had a new set of knives hanging on the wall. So I took one knife out, got the pack down only to realize these were the old ones I took out the last time.mi have no idea why I put them up on the wall. So a trip to sears to get new knives. Well guess what, the still sell the jointer with three knives, but no longer carry the knives in the store. All the have now are packs with two knives that fit a desktop planer. Jumped on line and they are out of stock. Called and they have no idea when they will restock. So I got online and ordered Freud knives that fix this jointer. Did over night shipping somi can get back to work. I didn't want to spend the time resetting the old knife just to remove it again. Seems every time you start a project there are more hurdles to over come. I just love being a woodworker!John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
July 20, 201213 yr Sorry to hear about your struggles as I have been there, done that....multiple times and can feel your pain. But look on the bright side! You are not in Yuma, AZ with the triple digit temps and monsoon flow with high humidity. July 20, 201213 yr JOhnI have done the same thing with old knives. Can't explain other then to protect me from getting cut intending to pitch them. Fortunately for me mine are readily available. I think it is safe to say we have been there. As frustrating as it gets, we still manage to get things done.Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.

July 21, 201213 yr Author Well I ordered the new knives with next day delivery thinking I would get them and installed yesterday. I had to leave the house at 5:30 pm and they had not come yet. Got home about 9:00 pm and they were on the front door. So much for the extra expense of next day shipping. I guess I have something to do today now.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
July 22, 201213 yr John, I missed the post about the plant? But, I can say I have done pretty much what you did. Setting something aside with the idea of getting to it or repairing it, then when it comes time to use it, I forgot I never repaired it! Arrrghhh!!!What are working on now, more cutting boards?John MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project and Homes For Our Troops
