July 25, 201214 yr comment_26433 This is the brother of the Orb I posted not long ago... it is made of 4 half-bowls, assembled "inside-out" compared to the Orb. It, too, is fashioned after the work of Malcom Tibbetts, however, I used only the scroll saw to cut the wood, assemble the bowl parts and sand/shape into what you see. This project was made of 1/2" poplar. Report

July 26, 201214 yr Author comment_26435 Arlin,  A lot of the description of the method can be found here: http://www.thepatriotwoodworker.com/forum/topics/orb-and-wavy-ribbon?commentId=5228218%3AComment%3A212076  The other wood I used for a 4-half bowl project is 3/4" pine: The Wavy Ribbon and Bowly Mobius were cut from 1/2" plywood... the methods to make the bowl parts are the same for all 4 of these "ribbon" projects (basically, the "bowl from a board" method, using a 45deg bevel cut for the rings that make up the bowl parts and the ring width=wood thickness). Formulae: Orb and Orb, inside-out =4 half-bowls, 1/2" or 3/4" thick, assembled in opposite fashion. Wavy Ribbon=6 half-bowls; Bowly Mobius=2 half-bowls and 10 quarter-bowls Spence That is so awesome buddy, have you tried it with afew types of wood? Can you show us how to do it?  Arlin Report
