Cliff Posted July 25, 2012 Report Posted July 25, 2012  I've used tape like so many do. Mostly I'll do this for those holes that are not terribly sensitive to a little over shooting of the depth - coz the bloody tape moves after several holes. I've also drilled out little round aluminum slugs and tapped 'em for grub screws which is a pretty good way to make a depth stop, but labor intense way to go. But most often when I have a real hard limit to the depth of the hole or I'm drilling a slew of holes and want something rigid I do this:

Scott Fleming Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 Thats really cool! I would have never thought of something like that. Guaranteed depth everytime. So did you use the drill press to make the hole and then bandsaw it to size?
Cliff Posted July 26, 2012 Author Report Posted July 26, 2012 Yah the DP and my square angle block then I cut it on the TS to an approximation of the right length and the final tweaking is done by inserting more or less of the drill shank into the chuck.
