August 2, 201213 yr  another Block plane.    Makes six, SO FAR.   A little Dunlap low angle plane.  Shouldn't take too much work to clean up.   Not as much fun, though, as a full restore. Maybe a re-do of the knob, new paint, sharpen the iron, and shine things up?   Yep, just what i needed.... 'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
August 3, 201213 yr Author  Spent a little time today, cleaning this new plane up.  I got the sole flat, and even cleaned up the sides...Some purple scrathy pads cleaned up the plated parts, as well.     That wood knob? Maybe this weekend, I'll work on it.  I did get some work on the iron, as well.   Just flattened the back, and worked on the edge a bit.  Took it for a drive on Poplar Street....Hmm, maybe adjust the setting a bit?Imagine it after a good honing down?   We are getting there.   Just a little Sargent made plane that Sears sold as a Dunlap.   'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
August 4, 201213 yr Author  Dunlap block plane is now done, re-hab completed.   Sanded down the tote, cleaned the rest of the bare metal parts, and applied a wax finish to the whole thing. Not too bad? Almost like new? That yellow can seems to work as a wax finish, for me, anyway..Next re-hab items showed up today.  Rust Hunter bought two saws, for a $1 each.   Might take awhile to get these ready...Both seem to be 10 pointers. 'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
August 8, 201213 yr Author  I got to checking that Dunlap iron.   Seems to be curved a bit, NOT cambered, the other direction.   Took the iron to work last night, and ground a new straight edge on it.   This afternoon, on the back porch bench, it was the stones & paper routine.  Polished everything on the iron, and gave it a test drive on a pine knotNot too bad? next, a trip on Poplar street..Hmmmp! Well, IF I tap the iron to the other side a bit? That's more like it! Might just be about done with this little $16 plane.  One more look? must have fallen over. 'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
