August 10, 201213 yr Whenever I am feeling low and kind of depressed, as we all do, I take a turn for the mental health of it.  I go to my mini lathe and turn something. Something small, something simple, like a fan chain pull knob, or maybe a small vase or goblet. Before I know it, my mind and creative juices begin to flow and I start to enjoy what I am doing to the point that I am feeling good again. I know that everyone has their own way to get out of the dumps, but for me the lathe does the job. Does that work for anyone else too?
August 10, 201213 yr ME ME ME lol. I have felt down in the dumps a lot lately, and getting on the lathe is really what keeps me sane. Even if I just true up a spindle for something down the road, it gets my mind off the worries, even if only for a short time. Yea i am supposed to be pretty much bed ridden, but i can't help just getting up and turning something when it gets me down. A needle/toothpick case featuring a 1/2" hole for needles or toothpicks. Grr I see a blemish on the top now that i will get rid of By the way, it's made of beech Charles NichollsSite Hostnicholls61@att.netProud supporter of The Wounded Warrior Project, Homes For Our Troops and the NRA

It picks up my spirits to see what is hidden below and what I can do with it. August 10, 201213 yr Exactly By the way all, the toothpick holder/needle case was a project idea that I got from capt Eddie Castelin (search for him on youtube he's very informative and funny) so it's in no way copyrighted. feel free to make some of your own. Ron Altier said: Charles Nicholls said:

August 10, 201213 yr Hey I had to, i have no porch that I an lock down a lathe on, i have no basement and no actual shop area, but I had to find a way of making some money from home to help pay bills with. So even though the dust removal isn't the greatest, I am doing what I have to do to get it to work.
August 10, 201213 yr For me, I'm not sure if it is the turning portion or standing knee deep in a pile of shavings!Lew Kauffman-Wood Turners Forum HostTime traveler. Purveyor of the world's finest custom rolling pins!
