August 15, 201213 yr Micheal is the first of our turners to get a photo off to The Patriot Woodworker! Congrats Michael! If I may, I'd like to share his description with all our members and visitors so they can see what a well written entry looks like!The title of this piece is " Portrait of the Artist as a Young Hollow Form". The vessel is Flamed Box Elder Burl and the finial is Ebony. The vessel and cap are 3" x 1 1/2". The base or display is carved Cherry and it is 7"x4". The vessel is hollowed down to roughly 1/8" walls with special hollowing tools I made my self out of old allen wrenchs.The finish on both the vessel and base is a Watco wipe on poly.This piece was turned on a Powermatic 3520B my good old Mustard Monster. Way to go Michael!!!!
