August 19, 201213 yr I picked these up today on the way home from my wife's Dr. appointment. The first one is a Disston, not sure of the model but it looks to be a rip saw but I think it's a d-8 as well. I liked the shape of the handle. The second one I found hanging in the rafter of the shed where the sale was at. It's a Diston D-8 with a thumb hole handle and the logo and inscription is clearly visible. I paid $3.00 each. Not sure of their value but the blades are straight and they look cool and both have the curved back. The last pic doesn't do it justice but the logo and inscription is much clearer than the pic.

August 19, 201213 yr Mike, you stole em buddy, 3 bucks a pop! You should be arrested! But I think the owner is just happy to see someone who loves old tools have em, better then having them hang around collecting dust. Great find man! Congrats! August 20, 201213 yr I like that finger hole model Arlin, so that is the difference eh? The D-8 has the finger hole, that is going into my memory banks. Really cool looking.Arlin Eastman said:MikeThe enclosed finger hole saw is a D8 and it is the only one to have one like that for Disston. The other one looks like a D10 ArlinJohn MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project and Homes For Our Troops
August 20, 201213 yr I've had two D-8s come through the shop. A Thumbhole Rip@5.5 ppiand a regular 11ppi crosscut D-8... The thumbhole pattern handles were for rip saws only.  You might see them on a number of Disston type saws.   The D-8s were a Skew back saw.  You could order one in about any configuration that you wanted.    usually about 26" blades, but again, up to the person that ordered the saw.  The D-8, I sold for $40, the crosscut D-8 went for about $10, I think. The "extra" hole was for using both hands during the cut.  The normal hand used the large opening, and then you stuck your other thumb through the small opening, while wrapping your other hand over the top of the tote, er, handle.  Try the grip, sometime.  It will give BOTH arms a workout. August 20, 201213 yr Careful there, it can be addictive...Next thing you know, they will start lining up outside your door, wanting a new home. A No.76, a D-8, a Keystone Pacemaker, and a D-23.    'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
