August 24, 201213 yr I'm not sure if I posted this or not and may have put it in one of my Friday post but thought I would share it with the group. This is a Zebra wood pen cut and an angle and turned on a slimline gold kit. I have made several of these and every time I get one turned it sells as soon as I put it out. I have got to try to get a couple of more of these turned soon. It is a little hard to turn as it will split if not careful since the grain is running at the angle. I have had to redo these several time due to it splitting off a piece. Finish is BLO/CA. Thanks for looking. John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
August 24, 201213 yr Beautiful John, i have the same problem with that wood, I had so much trouble with it in fact that I got rid of all my zebrawood stock. It wasn't a lot but there were a few pieces. lacewood is another that I had trouble with but that was more an end grain issue than splittingGreat job.Charles NichollsSite Hostnicholls61@att.netProud supporter of The Wounded Warrior Project, Homes For Our Troops and the NRA
August 24, 201213 yr Very nice John. I think the angled grain makes them distinctive and separates them from most slim line pens.www.thepatriotwoodworker.com Proud Supporter of Homes For Our Troops
