Black Titanium Junior Gents II Rollerball

Featured Replies

This is a Jr. Gents II kit I've been meaning to turn for a year or so and finally got around to putting it together. The blank is Redwood Burl turned and a CA finish applied. I'm also trying to improve my photography and learning, but slowly. I should have used a lighter material which would have shown the tight fit between blank and kit parts. Thanks for viewing and all comments welcome.ning-dscn0281-24605-15.jpgning-dscn0282-24605-93.jpgning-dscn0285-24605-93.jpg?width=750

Beautiful pen Mike, I wonder though, is the picture showing the true color of the blank or no? The only reason I ask is that I have a small piece of Redwood burl and it is much darker red than this is in the picture.

The piece I have may fit a Gatsby/Sierra type pen but not any bigger than that. I need to look for more of it since I do like the grain.

Thanks Charles! The photo is showing the correct color, it's redwood burl. I've seen them from an almost blonde to a deep red.

Ahh ok that explains it then. I was actually looking for that piece I mentioned I had since my last post, but it seems to have ran off again. I hate having to look through 3 boxes of wood just to find one 3/4x5 blank but I am still looking lol.

LOL I no more than posted this message, turned my head and it was sitting in the box I had next to my chair :D Silly me. Mine is just a bit redder than yours, I thought it was darker than what I see now.

The camera is making mine look a bit more gold than it actually is but otherwise its a decent picture.

The distributor could have messed up when it was labeled. Like you I thought redwood would have been darker but like I said I've seen it in different shades.
