Old Wood & Metalworking Machinery Swap Meet

Featured Replies

Greetins To All,

The first Old Wood and Metalworking Machine Operators (OWAMMO’S) Gathering was held in and around Dan’s shed on 5/7/2007 and so much fun was had by all that we decided to have 2 per year, so this will make our 12th OWAMMO’S Gathering. A few years back we decided that the OWAMMO’s Gathering needed more room so we chose the Branson / Hollister, MO area with the idea in mind to not only have a “middle of the nation†location to host our OWAMMO’s Gathering / Swap Meet, but in case you want to bring the family it provides an excellent place to be entertained. We have set the dates for the Fall 2012 OWAMMO’s Gathering for October 19-20, 2012. Details can be found on our web site Home of Ol' Wood and Metal Machine Operators!

Our OWAMMO’s Planning Team is comprised of people just like you that enjoy old wood and / or old metalworking machinery and related interests, vintage hand tools, learning new techniques through our several demonstrations, meeting people that share these interests, and the list goes on. We have been working for quite some time now planning our event and we would like to extend that invitation now to you! We again want to emphasis that the entire family is welcome at our event and along those lines the Ladies that have attended over the years have now formed a group called the "OWAMMO - Mams" and they have a page of their own on our OWWM web site and have a lot of fun shopin and so on. Here is the OWAMMO - Mam's direct link: Home of Ol' Wood and Metal Machine Operators! Please join us in Hollister & Branson, Mo. on October 19-20, 2012 for a big old-fashioned “old wood and metalworking machinery swap meetâ€, and the associated exhibits / demonstrations / goodies that we have planned around this family oriented event.

We have had some interest in vintage hand tools, blacksmithing, and other related vintage shop subjects so please bring your sell & trade stuff. We are excited that many new people will be joining us who are akin to our interests. Also remember that the Hollister / Branson area offers a multitude of wonderful attractions, shopping malls, excellent restaurants, and things for the spouse and children to experience so please have your family look over the “Branson†link under “EVENT†on our web page. Registration is now open so please go to our web site and register and please book your hotel room early as we have a limited number of rooms! The web site is:
Home of Ol' Wood and Metal Machine Operators!

While on our web site you will also find more event information, motel information, scheduling, and other pertinent information regarding the event. Please check the web site often, as it has the most up to-date information regarding the event. The cost for the gathering will be $25.00 per person for the two-day event and your Spouse and children (under 18) get in for free! We honor all Disabled Veterans, and for those Disabled Veterans who wish to attend our event we are waving all registration costs for your and your immediate family and we thank you for your service to our Country. Please send me a private email to oldtriumphs<at>hotmail<dot>com and I will arrange to wave our registration costs.

Obviously you can stay wherever you like while attending our event, but we are making the Branson Towers our lodging headquarters. Please ask the desk clerk for the OWAMMO’s Gathering Room Rate of $60.00 plus tax for 2 people staying in a "Preferred Room" with double queen beds, and to be placed within the block of "Preferred Rooms" which have the latest up-graded furniture that Deidre has set aside for our OWAMMO's group.

Besides the machinery aspect of the OWAMMO’s gatherings, some of the best times are had when surrounded by like-minded people who share your enthusiasm for old wood and metal machinery, vintage hand tools, blacksmithing, model engine building, and the list goes on! New friendships are made and old ones rekindled and we believe that the friendships are a major reason to get-together. Branson is seemingly really encouraging flying to Branson and that is evident with the reasonable air fairs as also seen on a link under the topic of “Bransonâ€. In closing we hope that you will consider attending our OWAMMO’s Gathering. If you have any questions please feel free to send an email to me: oldtriumphs<at>hotmail<dot>com

Thanks again, Dan and the OWAMMO’s Planning

Another one already Dan!!! Man it seems like it was just a few months ago. Way to go buddy!

I sure hope some of you guys / gals can show up this fall for the fun.......

Larry.....I may take this old Delta to OWAMMO's or sell / trade it before........I have a very rare / early 30s / 11" Delta 952 lathe with the original under-drive motor, several accessories including the original sanding disc and table, extra banjos, and the list goes on .........plus the original manual ........and finally the original yellow factory showroom price tag. This was one of 3 Deltas that I purchased at an old farm sale not far from me. The other 2 Deltas were a very early Delta oval tag Triple-Duty 1/3 HP bench grinder with original eye-shields, tool rests, water pot, etc. and whata you know.......the original manual ......... plus the original yellow factory showroom price tag........this is a keeper for me and my collection..............Saved the best for last ........ an all original 1939 Delta 4-footer Unisaw with the original 1HP RI motor with good tag, original switch box and plate, original fence, and original miter.....and a serial number of A-5_ _ ........this is earlier than the my 2 other 1939 Delta 4-footer Unisaws, but they are full restored so I let a very close friend talk me into selling him the one that I got at the auction.

Anyhoos ..........I sure wished some of the PW people would come to our OWAMMO's Gathering this fall cause we have a blast with the old machinery, but perhaps next spring.

Thanks ~ Dan

would love to make it, Sounds like it would be a great time

ning-sadsmiley-23586-99.gifSure Dan,

Rub it in!!!!

It's just been a bad year here. Wife in hospital twice in past two months, and then Tuesday she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Eight stitches and double shiners from getting clocked with a piece of wood the son split that spun up and caught her about an inch above the bridge of her nose.

ning-sadsmiley-23586-2.gifI sent you a friend request, send me photos of the 952 so I can feel worse. While you're at it don't tell me that you have a pair of the No. 344 bench legs.

Phil......I hope you can come and join the fun........

Larry ......344 bench legs .........I will look in my stack of 344s and see if I have extra

As per pics .......maybe later ........... oh ......... I was jokin about the 344s as I don't have any........but the 952 is on it's original stand with cast iron legs and they are the rare ones with the raised Delta name.

Dan,

You're a BAD man !!!!

ning-wavingfingerno-23584-38.gifBut seriously these sound too nice for my collection of misfits.

Most all of my " Old Machines " have been reassembled from machines most would think of as little more than parts machines.

( I get them cheaper that way, and they are more of a challenge. What can I say Misfits for a Misfit )

ning-whome-23584-20.gif

I do have a wish list as to a few of the early Delta Specialty Co. machines.

ning-daydreaming-23584-77.gif

Some of which I have the usually missing parts for, but not the machines.

ning-chinscratch-23584-76.gif

I'll hang on to them, just in case I ever find the machines they belong to.

Dan,

You know what they say over on that other website....

No pictures didn't happen.

ning-foldedarmsno-23583-86.gif

But after seeing photos of your shop, I believe, I believe.....

ning-praise-23583-61.gif

I don't bother with looking for the old grinders, I know where all the nice ones are....

ning-chinscratch-23583-84.gif

You've got most of them!!!ning-laughing-23583-42.gif

I'd be looking for a 1248 anyway, so I can use my motors to power more than one machine.

I missed a Model 668 combination unit a while back that was missing the fence and hold-downs for the No.458 mortising and routing unit. It was on CL and went for $50.00, but of course I was a call late.

ning-bigfrown-23583-65.gif

( The missing parts are some of the parts in my Stash, just waiting for a machine )

ning-devillaughing-23583-6.gif

Oh Well,

Someday!!!!

Hopefully one of these years I will be able to attend. Unfortunately I have already committed to a Boy Scout hiking/camping trip that weekend in the Sequoia National Forest, the youngest boy comes first. I would really like to see and meet everyone and see Dan's "shed". Maybe in the spring, but until then everyone have a good time and I will be there in spriit

My job is to give my kids things to discuss with their therapist
