September 21, 201213 yr  Went out Yard sale-ing this morning.   Found one place that had a few tools laying out, in the grass.   About all but one or two were hand saws, none worth the effort to bend over and pick up.   The other two items? One was a frog "Gig", and I don't do frogs that can hop away from me.   The other also had something to do with a frog...except this frog stays put.   The iron is just under 2-5/8" wide.   We are in Jointer-Land!  When you have a wooden body that is 28" long....it is a big Jointer plane.    I am finding Patent dates all over this big guy, even the Chip breaker has one!   Lateral has three!  The Brass Adjuster wheel has a pair of them.    With Mister Bailey's name all over the place.     Looking like about 1887 for a build date.    No checks or cracks in the wood, even.    The name of this plane..STANLEY       RULE & LEVEL CO.   No. 33 Bigger than my Bailey #8c.    Well, a Dollar well spent??? September 22, 201213 yr Author  Now I have 28" of old hard wood that needs a hand-rubbed finish.  ( take it from there) While using a wire wheel in my corded drill, wire wheel got a hold of my shirt.    Now, I have a few streaks on my chest, including a very tender spot.  Snag happened when the wheel found my thumb ( it was holding the part) sliced the knuckle, skipped up the arm into the shirt front, right at the nipple level.    I think I made a sailor blush....A corded drill?   yep, halfway through this clean-up job, my B&D 18v cordless quit.   Not a battery problem, after over five years, I guess it decided enough was enough.  No smell came out, no smoke rolled.  First, Forward stopped working, then reverse quit.   Dead as can be, with a freshly charged Battery in it.  Must be something going on around here.   Tried to use the "new' Dremel.   Without a bit in it, worked fine.  Installed a wire wheel bit for it, Dremel went up to speed, then......NADA  Nothing moved, not a sound out of it.  Oh well, was just a buck tool anyway.  Maybe next time I will just get a new one...Metal parts are now all new paint, and shined up.  Found a replacement knob, but will have to make a new tote.  Maybe just do walnut for both?Sign on pick up truck's back window..:' Save a Horse, ride a Cowboy'
September 22, 201213 yr Author Ok, got things back together, for awhile.  Easier to keep track of parts, that way.  PIP:Alll the metal works are cleaned up, with a new paint job.  Still need to work on the iron and chipbreaker. Brass is shined up. Still need to go to the Pole Barn Shop, and make new Walnut handles.   I might have to check, and see IF there is enough Beech left in the shop.   Originals were beech.   A Stanley #33 is one BIG jointer plane.   It is 4" longer than a Stanley #8 iron plane.  Blade is the same width.    Build date is about 1888, or so.  I wonder IF I will look this good when i reach 124?   Found two holes for a fence.  Seems that one could attach a fence to the side of this.  one screw hole in the front, and one near the rear. Still need a finish on the wood body.  Not too bad for just a dollar bill...
