September 24, 201213 yr Running a little late today, but we're here and that's what counts. We had a decent day at the market Sat. , small crowd but they were buyers. We talked to some of the other regular vendors there, and we are going to work up a list of shows that we have done in the past and done good at, then see about hitting some of these shows together. Hopefully we can make this happen next year. Actually we are doing a couple of the Christmas shows together this year. I got a couple orders too Sat. so all in all it was a good day. I got the orders cut Sunday, so all I have to do is finish them today and deliver at the end of the week. I posted some pics of some small cars last week or so, a lady saw them on Facebook and wants one of each, a boy and a girl, but double the size, about 8" long, in all "white wood, even the wheels", so I told her I needed a deposit, but I went ahead and cut all pieces so if if she drops off the deposit all I'll have to do is glue it up. And if not I'll cut another set of components of something darker and make them anyway, they're bound to sell. Now all that being said, how much of a deposit does everyone get for custom orders, I do 50% on most, being in the tattoo business as long as i have I've learned to read people pretty well so some folks I don't get a deposit from, and others I don't hesitate to get one from.  So what's everybody else up to ? GregScroll Saw forum hosthttp://www.thesawdustfactoryga.com/
September 25, 201213 yr Some times I do it without one if I feel like it is a good customer. I guess I have been lucky cause I have yet to get burned. It will happen one day I guess.
September 25, 201213 yr Author Usually if I talk to someone face to face I can feel them out pretty good, but thats tough to do online. Also if it's something that someone else will probably buy I don't worry about it. John Moody said:Some times I do it without one if I feel like it is a good customer. September 25, 201213 yr Author Fred, great work. Who's pattern is the fireman? As for Dec. the only one I know for sure right now is the Pembroke Christmas parade, in our town. The 4H sponsors it and uses the vendor fees as a fundraiser. Any others that I do will be within 50 miles or so of the house. Fred Wilson said: Greg - where are you doing your Christmas Shows?  I'm still open in December.
