September 25, 201213 yr I started this bowl back around March of this year and was going to finish it up then, but as time went by i heard that turning a bowl that is wet/green all the way, is not a good idea due to possible problems with cracking etc. So I waited to see if it or other pieces i had at the time would crack or not. Thankfully this one did not crack while all of the others did. So, i put it back on the lathe today to start turning the rest of the bottom. It has about 1/2" to go, maybe less. Then I can finish the rest of the sanding process and submitted for the turning contest. That is the ultimate goal. However, IF life should get in the way too much and delay my entry past the deadline, I will put it up for auction anyway, with the proceeds going to HFOT. I already had to spend most of the day today laying around not doing much because the "pains of life" are getting in the way. Lets hope I can finish at least the rest of the bottom tomorrow. By the way, This I believe is Wormy Ambrosia Maple Charles NichollsSite Hostnicholls61@att.netProud supporter of The Wounded Warrior Project, Homes For Our Troops and the NRAhttp://www.etsy.com/shop/nichollswoodworks

September 27, 201213 yr Author Thanks john i did finally get to work on it today. now if only I can get all the scratches out of it, they are being a pain to remove. See the little ring in the center? It only showed itself to me when I started to apply the EEE Ultra Shine, so now its back to the sanding through all grits again. I'm hoping to meet the deadline still. September 27, 201213 yr Very nice pattern in the grain Charles. I know how it is, some of those places can be a pain to get sanded out at times. I have gotten to where at times I take a picture to see if I have everything right. The light and flash of the camera sure bring out things you don't always see when you just look at it.Stay after it, going to be a nice bowl.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
