Gang, this is a great publication.  I received my Oct/Nov copy yesterday and the finishing tips in this one edition are worth the $20 subscription fee.

Above and Beyond WoodWorks

Makes a great gift for a woodworker you know. If you wife or family is wondering what to get you for Christmas, a little early Christmas gift of WoodCraft magazine would be nice. It's almost like Cousin Eddy says in Christmas Vacation, "It's the gift that keeps on giving all year Clark!"

What level is that mag pitched at?

For years I lusted after  a subscription to Fine Woodworking but  on minimum wage with a small family it was beyond me. As the years passed  I have come to a place where the articles all seem to me to be recycled  nonsense they pull out  every year  to repeat with new pictures and stuff pitched at the entry level newbie.

You know articles titled like "The only finish you'll ever need" etc.  Lots of tutorials on  how to use a friggin square or a gauge.   You know, things I mastered a LoooOOooOOOoong time ago.

The  work they feature  is often quite interesting  but the rest of the journal doesn't keep pace.

CAVEAT:  At least that is the impression I get when I pick  one up at a booksellers, thumb through it, and (every single time) put it back.

Given that as a back drop what's WoodCraft like?

John what if you already have a subscription? Can I add the 2 year deal to the end of the subscription I'm already on?

Cliff, Woodcraft has a down home feel to it, kind of like Popular Woodworking or Shop Notes. I don't look at Woodcraft as mainstream and run of the mill, it is unique in that it does have a more personal feel. Their articles are cool, they seem to lean to new ideas and ways of woodworking yet retain the hand tool side of things as well. Of course my opinion is going to seem biased, and well I am. I have come to know some of the folks at Woodcraft on a personal level and I am able to associate the magazine more on a personal level as I read it. I love the folks who run the company,

For me it goes beyond what is in the magazine, I like to support organizations and companies that support our veterans and active duty. And Woodcraft does just that. They support us! And they publicly support our men and women serving our country. So when it comes to pitching out my hard earned money for a magazine, I am looking beyond the content at this point in my life.

If you would like to read a little bit about the President of Woodcraft, please click on this link Jody Garrett Named President of Woodcraft Supply. Read about the man who runs the outfit, I think you'll like him, and he is another reason why we have teamed up with Woodcraft, he is the face of Woodcraft and personally I like what I see. I hope my babbling helped Cliff.

Mike here is the answer I got from Woodcraft. Looks like your good to go for concurrent issues as long as you order under the same mailing address.

John,

As long as they order under the same information as the original subscription (name & address) our system will link together and the new subscription will kick in when the old runs out.
