October 2, 201213 yr  Walked into the Pole Barn Woodshop, first time in awhile.  Owner had been "busy".   Sitting in a pile on the gravel floor was.....just a few pieces of oak..  He even had one slab sitting on a pair of saw horses. about 3" thick, 20" WIDE, and about 10-12' long.   The Black thng sitting there is his idea for smoothing this out.   Hmmm, too much dust.   There is even a small fan on the ground, to keep the dust away.    I decided to try a couple of sanders, my kind of sanders, that is...Stanley#1203?   Works, but at just 1-3/4" wide, it would take a while to go 12'A 1204?  At 2" wide for the cut, still a lot of work, and not long enough of a bed...How about a Franken Plane #5?   Nice long bed, and a decent iron.  Got to be better than...and yes, that is a gravel floor.   It is a Pole barn..    Some people just have all the luck.... October 2, 201213 yr Author  IF he has any,it will be a few years before that Oak is dry enough to use.    Log was just sawn about three days ago. He was asking me how to dry the darn things!.    I did show how easy the planes worked.    Don't know IF he will use them. We "time-share" all the Tools in the shop. I know what I'd do with that Oak, though......Sign on pick up truck's back window..:' Save a Horse, ride a Cowboy'
