A Finishing Tip Re-Posted

Featured Replies

John Moody and I were chatting last night and he reminded me a tip that I can't take credit for but I can pass it on.  A couple of years ago Larry Jenkins gave me this procedure and I use it alot.  Wipe on poly is a terriffic hard and durable finish for just about everything but it can be a bit tempermental because of lint from your cloth.  The solution is to use nylon panty hose.  Use only clean nylon because of lotions and contaminants and cut a piece about 6-8 inches long and fold it and then fold it again.  The nylon will absorb just enough wipe on poly to apply but not so much that it will run.  Wipe in overlapping sections.  The nylon is lint free and does a great job.

Try it.  It really does work.

Cool idea only one problem here (funny) i don't have a girlfriend or wife, and i'm sure as heck not going to the store to buy them and be accused of cross dressing LOL Just had to throw that out there :)

We have a ministry run by our church that has a thrift store.  I have a standing offer (no pun intended) to buy the nylons as they come in.  I run to get them.  (pun intended)

Now all I have to do is figure out how to talk my wife into standing still long enough to wipe the piece across her leg.  Great tip.

LOL oh where is the ROFL icon?

Let me know how that goes Fred!

Yeh, John - that would make a perfect Kodak moment would it not?  I guess I could always fake it.  (Food for thought)

Great tip, Ron. I'm sure you post will have Leggs. I'm going to toe the line and start hosing off my finish.

Gene, I feel like a straight man in a vaudeville act.

Nah, if I had one, I'd keep my day job.

Regardless of my puns, it is a great tip.

Sometimes it's great to re-live the past.  I recall that night with Ron quite well..
