October 8, 201213 yr Bet everybody thought I disappeared !!! No such luck, just had a busy day so far and I'm running late. Man it feels like December around here today, mid 60's and drizzly, nice for a change. So what's everybody been working on ? For those of you that have heard the rumor that Sheila Landry is retireing from pattern designing don't worry about it, I read her blog from LJ's every day and she assured everyone that she is just pursuing some other avenues of designing and may venture into other areas of woodworking. Her partner Keith Fenton makes some nice pens. Anyways i got a few things finished up over the weekend. Got these cars done and delivered today , are double the size of the other ones I've been showing, about 8" long. I got these together too and have somebody looking at them already. let me get everybody's opinion, red or black? red and black are UGA's colors, so i did one of each to test the waters, me I like the red one. And I got this rocking horse together and ready for paint yesterday too Some in progress pics of the rocking horse Even broke out my vintage Skil sandcat, i say it's vintage because it says made in U.S.A. on it. It's old and slow but so am I !!!!! And had some of my favorite cookies for lunch Even got to use this handy little tool GregScroll Saw forum hosthttp://www.thesawdustfactoryga.com/

October 8, 201213 yr yep I lived in Florida for many years so I was always keeping an eye on them Dawgs and them Seminoles (football). I even had the pleasure thanks to DirecTV of seeing a recent Seminoles game, that brought back some memories. October 10, 201213 yr Those are some neat cars there, Greg. Did you burn the names? Good looking horse, too. How do you finish them?I really don't like those cookies. They are too big to dunk and I can't break them. So, I just use them to hold stuff off the bench. They're great for that.Man, I wish I'd had that sanding stick when I was sanding on my "Lotus Flowers". I made my own and spray glued the paper. That stick of yours would really have been handy. Where did you find it?It seems that the Sand Cat is no longer available. I'll be long in mourning when mine passes on. IMO, they are the best made and handiest to use of any other small belt sander available today.Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' October 10, 201213 yr Author Gene, yep I burned the names in on both sides. The lady that bought these is letting her kids give these to thier grandmother for Christmas to add to her colllection. The pattern for these came from here http://toymakerpress.com/. I use a mixture of beeswax and mineral oil on these. Those cookies aren't the best tasting, but sure are handy ! As for the stick I really can't remember I've had it several years, I cut 1" sanding belts to use with it. The horse was fun to make I'm trying to get it painted now. You're right that sandcat is handy to use. I don't use it enough to wear it out, so hopefully it will be here after I'm gone. Gene Howe said:Those are some neat cars there, Greg.
